Château Bouffémont, the Ultimate Resort for a Fairy Tale Royal Wedding and a Baronial Holiday Getaway

It is every woman’s dream to have her fairy tale wedding and feel like royalty for that special day in her life. Château Bouffémont, located in the outskirts of Paris was in fact the home of French nobility that has opened its doors to its guests for the ultimate wedding destination, as well as the ultimate holiday getaway.

AJ3B6183

This illustrious resort was built in the 19th century where many events and ceremonies for royalty were hosted by its proprietors Marquise de Preignes and Baron Empain. In 2006 a young man with a big dream and a great idea purchased and transformed the château into a luxurious ten-bedroom private resort. The resort retains the French décor of the 19th century with breathtaking statues, a touch of the Louis furnishing era, with arsenic green walls and windows adorned with golden curtains, or scarlet red walls gleamed in the light of crystal chandeliers. But the resort is so much more, it is the home and palace of French nobility of the 19th century, in the technology and comfort of the 21st century, with modern kitchen facilities, high speed WiFi, flat screen TV’s, and sound-system throughout the resort. And to top it all the service is to Baronial standards, with chefs, maid service, butlers and coordinators, all committed to making your stay a fairytale to remember and personalized to your taste.

The château is situated 30km outside of central Paris and 20 minutes from Charles De Gaulle International Airport. It includes 5 grand halls, 10 prestigious apartments, beautiful gardens and a natural park. It is the fantasy place for an elegant and luxurious wedding. The incredible rooms, balconies, service, catering and organization, will make the bride feel like a princess and the guests feel like nobility, as taken from a Marie Antoinette scene.

This stunning house of royalty has three garden levels and a natural park of 15 hectares. There are many rooms and areas you can choose from to throw your wedding, and special events within the wedding. Le Salon des Anges located in the Garden Level is a perfect setting for cocktail receptions and for the wedding party. The Ground level holds many rooms with a particular purpose. For instance Le Salon du Baron, literally the room of Barons, is a warm welcoming and romantic place to spend intimate moments near a fireplace. In the ground floor the terrace has a breathtaking view of the French idyllic scenery of Montmorency Forest. In the first floor where three suites are located you can go out on the terrace and escape through the green relaxing sight of the gardens and the park.

golf It is easy to let yourself transported through the fantasy of spending time in the château as a bride or groom, wedding guest, or just for a lavishing getaway from the gloominess of city life. The château life is a time travelers’ experience, without losing the benefits of the 21st century comforts. But it’s not all just about magnificent sights and comfort for a romantic wedding or a relaxing getaway. The service of the château is in fact the beating heart that sets the palace in motion, and makes the fantasy come to life. Not even the 19th century nobility could have had such great service and comfort while spending time in the Château Bouffémont. There is a private Chef for all your culinary needs, a butler service that creates the elegance the château was made for, concierge services to organize activities and tours around the area, and everything else you need, maid service, guardian, transportation in all forms, laundry and postal service. But what makes the stay at the château a heavenly place of relaxation and bliss is the fitness and spa facilities. For golf enthusiasts, the neighboring golf clubs are at their disposal.

The stunning surroundings of the Château can be transformed even further to your needs to make the picture of the dream and the fantasy come to life. The château caters to your specific needs and designs your wedding, or any other event from business to personal, with the help of a professional team and network commercial partners at your disposal.

home_5The life of the Château is rich in memorable experiences of a large array of sport and leisure activities to choose from, within the premises and the region. Trips may be organized to Paris, the most romantic city in the world, by default. And within the premises guests can enjoy playing Golf in an 18 Hole Golf Course designed by legendary Jack Nicklaus, have a refreshing swim in the pool, play tennis, or enjoy the spa and massage. But the fun doesn’t end here as almost everything you’ve ever dreamed of doing or that you love doing is possible in the château; Hiking, Trekking, Quad and Mountain Biking surrounded by the scenery of the two beautiful lakes of Montmorency Forest. Also you can go Sailing, Windsurfing, Waterskiing, Rafting, Kayaking, Swimming, Bird Watching and Boat Riding at the Recreational Park of Cergy-Pontoise. You can even pick up flight lessons at the Les Ailerons Aviation Club or get a tan at the largest River Beach of France, L’Isle-Adam. The Château Bouffémont is also at your prompt disposal to organize events of sightseeing in the the National Museum of Renaissance at Château d’Écouen, or even at the the village of Auvers-sur-Oise that inspired some of the greatest names in the art world Van Gogh, Cézanne, Corot and Daubigny. More importantly all these activities can be held either within the resort, or close by from 10 – 20 minutes of driving.

In all, the Château Bouffémont, is the palace where life is nothing but a dream, for the future bride to really be a princess in her court in her special day, as well as for everyone else to enjoy the most relaxing and fabulous time in their life. The Château makes guests feel at home in a place of royalty, offers comfort, beauty, entertainment and relaxation. You will be surrounded by beauty of art, architecture and nature, and feel just like in a heavenly fairy-tale.

A French Chateau Wedding – Realise the wedding of your dreams

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life and you’ll want to put as much effort into planning it as is humanly possible.  Like everybody in this scenario, you will worry about every last detail. Have I chosen the right location? Can my guests reach it easily? Can they expect to enjoy the very best hospitality? What about the photographs or the catering?  Will there be room for everyone? A wedding checklist can seem daunting and almost endless…

Château Bouffémont is a unique19th Century gem, nestling in the heart of the beautiful forest of Montmorency, a vast area of natural parkland, yet just 30km from the centre of Paris, the most romantic city in the world. The Château was previously owned by the Marquise de Preignes and later by Baron Edouard Louis Joseph Empain, a Belgian engineer, entrepreneur and keen Egyptologist, who set up the Paris Metropolitan Railway Company in order to create Paris’s famous Métro system while the château remained in the ownership of the Empain family for over half a century.

Today, the château has been lovingly restored to its former splendour, and is available for business or private functions and luxury holidays or events as well as weddings.  The Château is a twenty minute drive from Charles de Gaulle international airport and provides a sumptuous location which is easy to reach for guests.

For those who prefer travelling overland, the village is served by Bouffémont-Moiselles railway station, just two and a half kilometres from the château, with a local line connecting with Paris Gare du Nord . The train service is every 25 minutes and more frequent at busy times of day. The journey takes under half an hour, alternatively a taxi and private chauffeur service is also available to collect guests from the airport or train station if required.

It’s only right that every bride should be a princess on her wedding day, and Château Bouffémont typifies the dreamlike quality of the perfect place for any princess to receive her guests.  The Château is architecturally stunning, with its grand external staircases, pillared galleries and simply gorgeous setting; your photographer will be spoilt for choice to capture the most stunning wedding photographs imaginable. And that’s just the outside! Inside, the salon des anges, which translates literally as the ‘angels saloon’, gives onto the gardens and offers a 70m² area perfect for receiving your guests with a glass of champagne. There is an elegant, wooden bar and a lounge area of an impressive 52m². On the ground level is a choice of three reception areas, the Grande Salle (64m²) and the slightly more intimate Salon du Baron and Salon de Marquise, each of 54m².  The Salon du Baron also features a beautiful classical fireplace.  At Château Bouffémont, we are here to make your wedding day match your personal dream, so that any or all of these rooms can be put at your disposal and laid out the way you want for your special day.

For the bride and groom and /or their guests, Château Bouffémont accommodation offers everything you could wish for.  The château boasts a total of ten sumptuous suites, most with extra-large beds and additional occasional bedding to accommodate family groups.  Each suite has its own private bathroom with a bath and shower, with the exception of the smallest rooms which have shower facilities; the château can accommodate a total of 27 people. For guests unable to drag themselves completely away from the hurly burly there is also Wi-Fi access.

image2On arrival at Château Bouffémont, you will be greeted by a representative of our friendly team who will introduce you to the chef, the butler and his staff, the housemaid and the long-standing guardian – all of whom are there to ensure your experience at Château Bouffémont is one that will live forever among your most cherished memories. With help from a wide network of associates and partners, Château Bouffémont is able to tailor your experience to your personal requirements in terms of room layouts, culinary requirements, concierge services and more. We pride ourselves on reputation, and it is in our interests to ensure that your expectations are met and, whenever possible, exceeded. But please do not just take our word for all this; this is what some others have said about Château Bouffémont:

“A fantasy château for grown-up fairy tales”

LUSSO MAGAZINE – The Hire calling

 LUSSO2

Elsewhere in this bumper issue of Lusso, a classic of French cinema is skillfully woven into a hotel and restaurant review and in our Features, a high end kitchen appliance hosts Lusso at the Cannes Film Festival. So since we’re on a (film) role…

Jean Renoir’s “ La Règle du Jeu” ( the Rules of the Game ) is one of the greatest films you’ve probably never seen. Even in last year’s Sight and Sound Greatest Movies of all Time poll, it was ranked #4 behind Hitchcock’s “ Vertigo”, Citizen Kane and Ozu’s masterful depiction of Japanese social breakdown, Tokyo Story. On paper, not anyone born after 1975’s idea of a good time, this writer implores you to get hold of a copy. A 1939 melange of century comedy of manners, Moliere’s reworking of marivaux’s Games of Love and Chance and bits of The Marriage of Figaro, it is breathtaking in its scathing satire and cruel wit. Roger Ebert thought it “ so simple and so labyrinthine, so guileless and so angry, so innocent and so dangerous, that you can’t simply watch it, you have to absorb it.”

Long story, cut short – Lots of posh and bourgeois  types leave Paris for a grand country house weekend and lots of farcical misunderstandings in love ensue. Oh and someone gets shot dead. The old order of French society is bit buggered up and not as egalitarian or mature as it may imagine itself to be. Oops, is that the War? The End.

I am reminded of this treasure in the kinoscopic pantheon as I pull up outside the breathtaking château Bouffémont. Actuallt I am lying.

I’m not quite that cultured. I actually think of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers semi-gliding down each of the double stone staircases to meet in the middle and twirl suavely. Then that thought turns to Morecombe and Wise. Finally, Lionel Blair. Hello? Where am I? oh yes.

Château Bouffémont is a jewel of a property.  An early 19th century confection, once the home of the Marquise de Preignes and the baron Empain, it sits 30km northwest of Paris and only 20 minutes from Charles de Gaulle airport in the magnificent Montmorency forest. Having become the family pile of Belgo-Franco horse breeders, it was sectioned off into the various tiny apartments that bickering dynasties were wont to do, mainly to avoid harsh French inheritance taxes.

AlexanderIn 2006, the house-  now in need of serious renovation – was bought by a wealthy Russian engineer looking for the perfect spot to retire, away from the distant, chilly gas fields of Bovanenko. Alexander Guslistyy, a dynamic and charming young man, has completed the restoration his grandfather had planned. A graduate of Imperial College London and an entrepreneur with two years at Goldman Sachs behind him, he’s not quite ready to retire himself.

So until Versailles gets it’s own Air B&B page, Alexander has turned Château Bouffémont into one of the most palatial rentals in Europe. Behind the fairytale façade, real work has gone into the makeover.  “ The property had been sectioned off and needed a lot of renovation to open it back out. But I wanted it to be welcoming to many different types of party. Corporate, wedding, vacation…I thought it should retain its splendour and glamour, but not feel too lived in or antique. When you go to those big old French house, there’s so much clutter and remnants of other people’s lives, you feel like you’re trespassing in someone’s actual home. Here, we’ve created a canvass for our guests’ fantasies.”

Fantasy is right. Five grand halls of elevated ambiance, ten sumptuous bedroom suites – each with a great sense of theatre and indulgence; magnificent manicured lawns and a beautiful 15 hectares of park; stabled thoroughbreds ( including champion jumpers) out the back, the Jack-Nicklaus designed Paris International Golf Course at your disposal in the front garden; sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and canoeing on the two lakes and the facilities for in-house self-cooking or, thanks to fully specced pro kitchen, external catering or private Chef.

The grand suite is the perfect location for an elegant reception, with opulent green hues and massive chandeliers (and features quite a mighty sound system). At the garden level, the Marble Salon has a fully stocked bar and double doors that open out into the lawn. The Château might look old school, but it is wired for today, being complemented by state of the art equipment : Wi-Fi coverage, a computer with scanner and printer, fire and security systems, washing machines, gas BBQ, sound system, elevator and flat screen TV, radio and digital telephone in all the suites.

If driving to Paris for your cultural fix seems like a bit too much like hard work (although a 40 minutes by car isn’t that much if a bind), then there’s some very close by. Both the National Museum of Renaissance at Château d’Ecouen and Auvers-sur-Oise – the famous village that welcomed and inspired impressionist artists including from Cézanne, Corot to Daubigny are both within a 15 minute drive. Auvers-sur-Oise is of particular interest to Van Gogh fans. You’ll find the hospital where he was treated for depression, where painted his physician, Dr Gachet, and ultimately where took his life and was buried.

On a more upbeat note, Alexander hosts cultural evenings and one can’t imagine a better place for a masked ball or arts event.

We have a great aperitif to dinner in the hands of Catherine Agelasto from the Wine-Event Company, a highly knowledgeable oenologist who leads us through a tasting of some current French beauties.

Whether you’ like the place for yourself and your family or to be the backdrop of a special event, Bouffémont is able to, chameleon-like, fit the bill.

Day membership of the golf course (one of the most exclusive in France) is available to occupants. Even a non-player would fancy a drive-up, the immaculate 14th, the house sitting in stately glory as backdrop.
